AES Newsletter March 2011
March 24, 2011
Dear <>

Just reminding you, it’s Earth Hour on March 26, 8.30 pm. It’s when all over the world people are switching off their lights.

It’s also an hour for reflection and commitment on how we will save more energy from now on.

Some people ridicule Earth Hour as ineffective and symbolic.

Well, no actually. It isn't.

Think of all the small consumer actions that have led to global warming and climate change. Equally so, each small thoughtful act to reduce energy use, is also very powerful.

If it might now be impossible to avoid severe effects from climate change, then at least we must learn how to live with its long-term realities. Saving energy goes to the core of it.

Each time we use a car, buy electrical appliances, or make holiday choices… Do we really need to drive or could I walk or take a bus? Do I really need this new gadget that will end up in landfill pretty soon? Could I stay closer to home for the next vacation?

Simple choices.

Who knows that power is such that we may eventually no longer ‘need’ nuclear power, coal and oil, but can live sustainably.

As one contribution Mike Denby is launching his new, easy-to-use, energy saving manual allowing you to save a great deal of money and energy in your home.

An initiative worthy of Earth Hour.

Watch it here.

It will see the light of day during Earth Hour! This Saturday.

Do your bit.

I will.

PS We should also remember at this point that many thousands of Japanese people are shivering through a forced lack of power during their worst national disasters: earthquakes, tsunamis and nuclear fallout. Our thoughts are with them - especially during Earth Hour. You received this email because you signed up to receive the

Alternative Energy Sources Newsletter

(AES Newsletter). As my site develops I will tell you about any opportunities to get better informed about alternate energy sources and global warming. AND about things you can do.
