Solar energy grants for fire stations

by Jeff Berino
(Frisco, CO)

I am looking for potential grant sites for solar energy at our 5 fire stations. Any suggestions?
---
We gather you're not in a rural area (see below). That being so we cannot find solar grants but the Qualified Energy Conservation Bonds (QECBs) might be of interest. These may be used by state, local and tribal governments to finance certain types of energy projects. Check out details here.

If in rural areas check out the USDA - High Energy Cost Grant Program which offers an ongoing grant program for the improvement of energy generation, transmission, and distribution facilities in rural communities. Eligibility is restricted to communities that have energy costs at least 275% above the national average.

The USDA - Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) Grants refunds 25% of project cost of renewable energy projects, within its guidelines.

Please let us know how you go.
