Solar energy grants for public school

by Harris Bloom
(Briarcliff, NY 10510)

We would like to start a curriculum and program utilizing students to build photovoltaic cells and solar panels and to start a green employment and training program for these students at a public high school around this new "green occupation". We would like to utilize the energy provided to power other school related career training programs, horticulture, etc.

What are the grant opportunities for such a venture?

Dear Harris,

Congratulations on your innovative concept. Check out this State grant Program: NYSERDA - Grants for Public and Non-Profit Energy Conservation Projects. It provides funds, including to schools for renewable energy projects. Funding is available for up to 100% of project costs with a maximum of $1 million.

There is also the U.S. Department of Energy - Loan Guarantee Program for your consideration.

Hope this is of help. Please share your successful projects here to help others.

To your success!
