Solar Energy Grants For Rural Mississippi Farmers
by Carolyn Hegman
(Carthage, MS)
Where can I go to get grant money for solar initiatives for rural Mississippi farmers?
Thanks for your inquiry Carolyn. The answers may help a number of farmers.
First, the USDA's Rural Development Program is a good source to start. On its site you'll find information on the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Improvements Program, and how to apply for it. Also info on Biobased Products and Bioenergy Program, Other Energy Loans and Grants for Businesses and Energy Loans for Utilities.
Second, it's worth noting President-elect Barack Obama's significant campaign commitments to rural America and to access to renewable energy for farmers. Check in with the USDA and your Congressman and Senator's office from time to time to keep an eye on those developments and remind them of those pledges.
Third, this Mississippi-based renewable energy consultancy, S3N CONSULTING, LLC, might be able to help you further. An inquiry cannot hurt...
Hope this helps.
Please come back and share your findings to help others too.
All the best.
