Solar panel grants for Tennessee

by Laura
(Nashville TN )

I live in a condo complex in a city where the metro codes should file for moral bankruptcy. In addition TVS is now placing the payment burden for an ash spill upon us. Does anyone know where our complex can find grant monies to panel our units? We have 8 or 9 single small condo cottage style homes w/900sq feet and three 5 unit town home complexes; and 3 15 unit condo complexes.

Hi Laura,
The TVA - Generation Partners Program might be of assistance to you. Click on the link or call them: 866-673-4340.

Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) offers a production-based incentive program. Valley homeowners and businesses are eligible for the installation of renewable generation systems from these resources: PV, wind, low-impact hydropower, and biomass. The energy that is generated from these systems counts towards TVA's green power pricing program: Green Power Switch.

With regard to solar PV, TVA will buy 100% of its outputat a premium of $0.12 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) on top of the retail electricity rate and $0.03 per kilowatt-hour on top of the retail electricity rate for wind, low-impact hydro, and biomass.

Payment is made through a credit issued by the local power company on your monthly power bill for your home or business. If you produce more electricity than you use, you will be paid. All new participants in the Generation Partners program will receive a $1,000 incentive to offset the upfront cost of the qualifying system. The contract term is 10 years.

Eligible renewable energy systems must have a minimum output of 500 watts AC and a maximum output of 200 kilowatts (kW).
