Kenya Green Energy Foundation (KENGEF)

The Kenya Green Energy Foundation is a registered charity encouraging the development of renewable energy and energy conservation whilst emphasizing that such development must be guided by fundamental principals of sustainability.

KENGEF is part of a growing national and international consensus that, there is a higher need to encourage the use and the development of renewable energy sources to counter climate change, enhance Biodiversity, promote SMEs and ultimately enhance Human Development

KENGEF is supported by private donations, National and International Renewable Energy Grants and has no political affiliation or corporate membership.
In pursuit of its principal goals KENGEF highlights the need for an overall energy policy that is balanced, ecologically sensitive, and effective.

The issues of climate change and security of energy supply are complex and closely intertwined. KENGEF contributes to the debate surrounding these issues by raising public awareness , Soliciting for and providing Funding support for renewable energy initiatives and encourage the development and use of renewable energy alternatives whilst ensuring sustained advocacy for the creation of a structured energy policy for Kenya that is both ecologically sensitive and practical.


Over the past two years KENGEF has been receiving Technical Feasibility studies and finalizing Professional Business Plans from member Organizations/Enterprises for the Development of Wind –Solar Power hybrid systems in Kenya

At International and the National level, Kenya Green Energy Foundation (KENGEF) Mandate includes Educating on the higher need for the Development and use of Green Energy Solutions to enhance human existence, Advocacy, Fundraising for Clean Energy initiatives, Capacity Building, Provision of Start –up Grants for Clean energy and conservation projects and sharing with the global actors innovative and sustainable clean energy ventures and best practices for replication purposes.
